The Story Behind Bob’s Coffee - Built Before Sunrise

I was born in 1945 and raised in the heartland of the Midwest, where hard work wasn’t optional it was simply a way of life.

From an early age, I worked alongside my dad and mom on our family farm. Long before sunrise, the day had already begun. Early mornings, long hours, and honest work taught me something I’ve carried my entire life: nothing worthwhile comes easy.

At 18 years old, I proudly enlisted in the Illinois Air National Guard, carrying with me the same values I was raised on  faith, discipline, service, love of family, and pride in country.

Through every season of life, one thing never changed: My love for coffee

Coffee was there before sunrise on the farm. It fueled long days of work, early military mornings, and countless conversations around the kitchen table with family and friends.

To me, coffee has always meant more than what’s in the cup.

It represents tradition, hard work, gratitude, connection, and slowing down long enough to appreciate the blessings God gives us.

That’s what inspired Bob’s Coffee - Built Before Sunrise isn’t just a tagline it’s how I was raised.

It stands for early mornings, honest work, family, faith, service, and great coffee made for people who still believe in doing things the right way.
